Curtain Measurement Guide

To take the correct curtain measurements, choose one of the curtain types below. The measurement technique differs for each model.

Double Pinch Pleat

How to measure width?

Measure your curtain rod from one end to the other. Enter this measurement as the width.

How to measure length?

Measure from the bottom of the curtain rod rail to the floor.

  • If you want your curtain to end without touching the floor, enter a measurement 1–2 cm shorter than the floor.
  • If you want a slightly draped look, add 3–5 cm to your measurement.

Triple Pinch Pleat

How to measure width?

Measure the total width of your curtain rod. Enter this measurement directly as the width.

How to measure length?

Measure from the bottom of the curtain rod rail to the floor.

  • For a straight look, enter 1–2 cm shorter than the floor.
  • For a more impressive and slightly draped look, add 4–6 cm.

Canon Pleat

How to measure width?

Measure the total width of your curtain rod from right to left. Enter the measured value as the width.

How to measure length?

Measure from the bottom of the curtain rod rail to the floor.

  • If you want it to end exactly at the floor, enter 1 cm shorter.
  • If you want a slightly pooled look, add 2–4 cm.

No Pleat

How to measure width?

Measure the total width of your curtain rod and enter the same measurement. If you want a looser and slightly more wavy appearance, you can add 10–20 cm to your measurement.

How to measure length?

Measure from the bottom of the curtain rod rail to the floor.

  • If you want a straight finish, enter 1 cm shorter than the floor.
  • For a slightly draped look, add 2–4 cm.

S Pleat

How to measure width?

Measure the total width of your curtain rod and enter the same measurement as the width. If you want a richer and more fluid appearance, you can add 5–10 cm to your measurement.

How to measure length?

Measure from the bottom of the curtain rod rail to the floor.

  • For a straight look, enter 1 cm shorter than the floor.
  • For a slightly draped look, add 3–5 cm.

Grommet / Eyelet / Rod Pocket

How to measure width?

If your rod is installed, measure from the inside of one finial to the inside of the other finial. Do not include the finials in the measurement. Enter this measurement as the width. If the rod is not yet installed, you can take a measurement that extends approximately 15–25 cm beyond the right and left of your window.

How to measure length?

Measure from the center of the rod to the floor.

  • If you want the curtain to end without touching the floor, enter 1 cm shorter than the floor.
  • If you want a slightly draped look, add 3–5 cm.
  • If you want a more impressive, slightly pooled look, add 7–10 cm.

If you want draped curtains

Sheer curtain: For a lightly draped look that pools on the floor, add 3–5 cm to your length measurement.

Blackout curtain: For a fuller and more elegant drape, add 5–10 cm to your length measurement.

How to Take Measurements?

For roller blinds, the "width" measurement refers to the width of the top aluminum cassette, not the fabric. Take the measurement from the outside of the window frame (wall mount) or from the inside (recess fit). For wall mounting, a generous allowance should be left on the sides of the window so that the blind completely covers the glass.

Recess Fit and Outside Mount Measurement Details

Recess Fit (Inside the Frame) Installation: If you are placing your roller blind inside the window opening, when taking the width measurement, you need to measure from the top, middle, and bottom points of the window. You should choose the lowest value among these three measurements. To ensure the mechanism fits perfectly and operates smoothly without rubbing against the sides, you should order 3-4 cm less than this lowest measurement.

Outside Mount Allowance: If your blind will be installed outside the window, adding a 5-10 cm overlap allowance to your net window measurement on both the right and left sides will provide comfortable use and completely block out sunlight.

Overlap and Fabric Allowance

For roller blinds, the fabric is approximately 4 cm narrower than the cassette width due to the mechanism brackets. To prevent light leakage from the sides, add an overlap allowance of at least 10-15 cm on the right and left sides of the window (a total of +30 cm) when entering the measurements on the website. For the length measurement, always add a +10-20 cm winding allowance so that the roller is not visible.

How Should Measurements Be Taken?

The measurement principle for zebra blinds is the same as for roller blinds; the cassette measurement is taken as the base. Due to the double-layered fabric structure, measurement errors can disrupt the alignment of the zebra patterns. If mounting to the ceiling, start measuring from the ceiling; if mounting to the wall, start measuring from the top of the cassette.

Things to Consider When Taking Measurements

Inside Glass Measurement: When the zebra blind is to be mounted inside the window frame, the width measurement should be taken from the top, middle, and bottom. You should take the smallest of these three measurements as your base. To ensure the blind cassette fits comfortably into the opening, subtract 3-4 cm from this measurement when placing your order.

Daylight and Allowances: If you do not want sunlight to enter from the sides, you can completely block the light by adding an allowance of 5-10 cm to your measurement on the right and left when mounting externally.

Overlap and Rolling Allowance

For light and visual insulation, order by extending the blind at least 10 cm beyond the sides of the window. For zebra blinds, to ensure the patterns fully align when the blind is completely closed, it is a technical necessity to add 20 cm "rolling allowance" to the length measurement.

How to Take Measurements?

Pleated blinds are usually mounted on the glass or between the gaskets. When taking measurements, measure the net width and height of the glass in millimeters.

Recessed Installation and Allowances

Glass Recess Measurement: To ensure the mechanism fits perfectly into the glass recess, measure the width from the top, middle, and bottom. Choose the narrowest measurement. To allow the blind to operate without jamming, you should order with a width measurement 3-4 cm smaller than this value.

Adding Outer Allowance: To prevent light leakage, for outside-the-window applications, adding a 5-10 cm allowance to the right and left of the measurement will help you block incoming daylight more effectively.

Overlap and Sash Tolerance

For glass balconies, separate measurements should be taken for each glass panel. The most critical rule is: for glass balconies, 2 cm should be deducted from the width measurement of the first opening sash. For corner joint areas, to prevent the two blinds from hitting each other, orders should be placed by deducting 1.5 cm from the corner measurements.

How to Take Measurements?

The decision of where to mount blinds is critical. For inside-mount (inside the frame) installations, measure the net width and height of the glass with a metal tape measure. For wall or ceiling mount, take measurements from the outside of the window frame.

Precision in Inside-Mount Measurements

Inside-Frame Application: For the blinds to fit perfectly within the window opening, measure the width separately at the top, middle, and bottom of the window. Use the smallest of these measurements as the base. To ensure the blind operates smoothly, you should order with a width 3-4 cm less than this measurement. This reduction allowance prevents the mechanism from hitting the sides and getting damaged.

Daylight in Outside Mount: If you are mounting the blind over the window, it is recommended to add an extra 5-10 cm on the sides to completely block incoming sunlight.

Overlap and Stack Allowances

For wall mounting, add an overlap allowance of 10 cm on both the right and left (total +20 cm) to prevent light leakage. Wooden blinds have a high stack allowance; ensure there is a 25-30 cm gap between the ceiling and the window for the window sash to open.

How to Measure?

Vertical blinds are usually rail systems mounted to the ceiling. Measure the total length of the rail as "Width", and the distance from the ceiling to where you want the blind to end as "Height".

Detailed Measurement Guide

Inside Mount (Recess Mount) Rail Measurement: If you will install the vertical blind rail inside the window opening, you should measure the width from the top, middle, and bottom of the window. Note down the smallest measurement. To allow the rail and vertical slats to turn and move without catching on the sides, you should order a width 3-4 cm shorter than this narrowest measurement.

Outside Mount and Light Gap: To block daylight leaking from the window edges, adding an extra 5-10 cm to the width on both the right and left for outside mounting will significantly improve the light insulation of your room.

Overlap and Depth Clearance

The rail should not be too close to the wall; there must be space behind for the slats to turn. Since the slat width for PVC vertical blinds is 89 mm, at least 10 cm of depth clearance should be left in the area where the mechanism will be mounted to allow the slats to move freely.

The length of the rustic pipe should be measured so that it extends at least 15-20 cm beyond the window on both the right and left sides.
